Passive solar energy is the sun’s energy accepted without resistance…or assistance. Passive solar energy requires no moving parts. Although fans are sometimes used in passive solar homes for even distribution of the air, they’re not required. Nor are pumps, mechanical or other electrical elements including in the design. Even the fans that are sometimes used in passive solar homes are generally solar powered.

No solar panels or other photovoltaics are required for passive solar energy. The design elements of a passive solar home generally include large south-facing windows to collect solar energy. As the sun’s energy is collected it passes through to some type of thermal mass, often concrete, tile brick, or stone, and sometimes even water. The thermal mass will hold and then dissipate the heat when the sun goes down for the day, or when it’s a cloudy, rainy day. During the summer roof overhangs and awnings work passively to reject the summer heat and maintain the building’s coolness.

The Greeks and Romans really brought us the elements of the first passive solar energy designs when they did the first calculations on how to take advantage of the sun’s energy.

Even though it made sense to take advantage of passive solar energy all those years ago, it makes even more sense now. The Greeks and Romans were then, as we are today, driven by diminishing resources for fuel and energy. Depending substantially on wood to heat their homes, the nearby forests began to disappear, and using the high intellect known then to exist, they discovered how to take full advantage of solar energy. As originally discovered by the Greeks and Romans, we, too, can eliminate or supplement our need for non-renewable energy sources by taking full advantage of passive solar design.

Passive solar energy is extremely clean. It’s also totally renewable and doesn’t emit greenhouse gases. By design, a passive solar energy home will maintain an even temperature throughout, and generally touted by homeowners as much cleaner and more comfortable than a comparable conventional system.

Most passive solar homes also have passive solar hot water heaters, further reducing costs and decreasing their reliance on non-renewable resources. Passive solar water heaters are generally of one of three varieties: flat plate, evacuated tube, or batch heaters. Batch heaters seem to be the most popular, and they are a relatively easy-to-do project if you choose to build your own. You can purchase…or often find for free…a salvaged electric hot water tank thoroughly sealed and painted black. Then, add some new fittings and pipe. Encasing it in an insulated plywood box, it is glazed, or covered with fiberglass, glass, or high temperature resistant molded plastic. Placed in a location…inside or out depending on your climate…the sun heats the water either completely or partially. The most effective design to date appears to be placement of the upright tank at an angle. The heated water from the tank is piped either into an auxiliary tank for complete heating, or, in warm locations, used directly from the batch tank. It is simple, extremely effective, and once again, completely passive energy.

You can also use a batch, or what is sometimes also referred to as a breadbox heater, with a staged design system. Using more than one encased heater, you can place them in different areas around your home. This allows you to take advantage of the sun’s various angles to obtain the most heat from the sun’s hottest rays. Other passive hot water systems, including flat plate and evacuated tube are also used in solar passive homes. However, they aren’t always as effective, and their designs are more compatible with professional installation.

So…still looking for a few more benefits of going solar? Solar energy doesn’t contribute to global warning. Solar energy doesn’t won’t spill into the ocean and create miles and miles of oil slick to kill wildlife, pollute and damage fragile environmental ecosystems. There’s no acid rain, no smog that comes from using solar energy.

There are many “pros” to solar energy, as we are increasingly discovering…or should I say re-discovering?

Saving cash is essential to everybody which is the reason why more and more people are deciding to to build a wind turbine rather than paying for one.

Making a turbine yourself comes with many great advantages.

For starters, retail manufactured wind generators, while effective are not as effective as they could be simply because they are mass-produced. So that you can mass create anything, it needs to be designed in a way that production costs are drastically lowered; even if that means giving up some performance of the product.

It is not that hard to build a wind turbine at home. The most essential components needed for the construction of a wind turbine are rare earth magnets like neodymium, epoxy resin, magnet wire and some plywood. The toughest aspect about building your own wind turbine is creating the propeller blades and getting the wire windings right so that the power being produced is usable in the home.

While you do this you’ll get lots of experience. Even if you build stuff all the time and love getting your hands dirty, there is practically nothing like taking on a project such as building a wind turbine. Right from the start, you will have to use your hands and your head to make sure everything works great. With the help of do-it-yourself instructions, the process is made much less difficult.

Your neighbors will come to you and ask you to help them to build a wind turbine that they can use to power their homes. Simply because of the experience of the construction process, you will instantly become the neighborhood expert on renewable energy. Be ready to answer people’s questions with regards to the construction of your wind turbine as well as other potential questions concerning home power and energy savings techniques.

Saving the world is also crucial. While not everyone who chooses to build a wind turbine is doing so out of appreciation for the planet, the simple act of kindness to Mother Nature does have its returns. The less power you are using from the power company, the less carbon is released into the surroundings. This means the less damage that will be done to the earth and allow future generations to marvel at its existence.

Of course one could go on and on for days discussing the many benefits of using wind power in the home; but it is really obvious that they outweigh the costs.

The office may be among the largest users of energy in the home. Here are a few simple tips to help you be energy efficient in your office.

#1 Plug everything in the office into a power strip.

Computers, printers, recharging stations, radios or televisions and even your light fixtures can be connected to power strips. At the conclusion of each day or each working session, turn off your various electronics but also turn off the power strip.

This can conserve a significant amount of energy since many electronics continue using power even when they’ve been powered down. Turning off the power strip eliminates energy consumption when the electronics are not in use. And only turning on the item when you have to use it saves power too.

Furthermore, many power strips are surge protectors, which offers the electronics protection from powerful electrical surges which is often caused by lightening and other factors.

#2 Passive Solar & Wind Power

Passive solar is the practice of using the sun’s energy passively For example, you can use the sun’s power to heat your office in winter time by opening the drapes and letting the sun’s rays warm the office. In the summer you’d want to close the drapes to help your office remain cool.

The wind’s power can also be used to cool the office in the summertime by producing cross breezes. Open windows on opposing sides of the office to produce a path for the air current to flow. As the air passes through your office it can help it stay cool.

Fans are also a big help although they generally run on electricity, they are more affordable cooling methods than air conditioning which can cost more than $500 a summer.

#3 Active Solar

There are numerous office products on the market today that use solar cells to maximize the sun’s energy. You can purchase laptop bags with solar cells to power your laptop. You can buy solar recharging stations and recharge all your electronics. You can even purchase solar powered electronics.

Lastly, reorganizing your office for maximum ventilation will help it stay cool in the summer. If you have containers piled and furnishings sitting on vents there won’t be any way for the cool air to flow into in the office. Clean house and minimize clutter for optimum power savings.

There are numerous ways to become more power effective in your office. Utilize the power of the sun and the wind for cooling and heating and become wise about switching off and on the electronics when you will need them. Utilize just as much as you need.

Having a business takes a great deal of energy. Both your own electricity plus fuel based electricity. Consider all of the energy it requires to run your office equipment. All of the energy this took to get that case of paper to your office and all of the power it requires to keep your business working efficiently day after day. The good news is that it’s an easy task to minimize the impact your small business has on the environment. Plus using these simple steps will even help you save money.

Here Is How To Minimize Your Small Business Environmental Effect:

1. Put all electronics on a power strip. Keep your electronics, such as your printer and recharging stations, turned off while not in use and at the end of the work day, turn off the power strip they are plugged into. It is an easy action that will save a lot of electricity over the course of a year.

2. Recycle. If you’re like many business owners, even if you do the majority of your work electronically, you go through a great deal of paper. Recycle all that paper. Recycle the periodicals that you receive. Recycle the ink cartridges used in your printer. Plus recycle your electronics when you’re done with them. Computers, cell phones as well as your office furnishings can certainly be recycled. It is a much better idea than just throwing them away.

3. Reduce. Take a look all around your office and at your procedures. Where can you reduce your consumption? Such as, when you normally get up in the morning and switch on your computer but never truly get to work for an hour, then you can certainly decrease your consumption simply by waiting to turn your computer on. In addition, if you print copies of receipts for products bought on the internet, keep these using a back up hard drive instead and conserve paper. Make use of the back side of paper that has already been printed on as scrap paper or utilize it in your printer.

4. Obtain repurposed products. You can buy restored electronics. You will save cash and you will help prevent functional equipment from ending up in the landfill. You can buy refurbished furniture too. And you’ll create a great home office from pieces bought at a flea market.

5. Purchase Energy Star. Computers, printers, and even lighting for your home office can be cost effective from the get go. CFL light bulbs, compact fluorescent, conserve tons of money for you and are really an environmentally good practice. Reported by Energy Star, if each American home exchanged just one single light with the Energy Star light, we would save enough energy to light well over 3 million homes in a year, about $700 million in annual energy expenses, and prevent 9 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions each year, comparable to the emissions of about 800,000 autos.

That is some pretty considerable savings for just one small light bulb. How many do you have in your office? Change each and every incandescent using a CFL and you are making a tremendous impact. Purchase energy star labeled goods and provide yourself as well as the environment a head start.

Reducing your small business impact on the environment isn’t going to require a enormous effort or even a wide structured strategy. It requires a handful of easy actions. Take one thing using this checklist today, use this and make a big difference.

With years came the destruction of many valuable resources. Today the world is faced with the biggest problem; lack of resources to carry out even the most mundane duties of a persons day to day life. This shortage of fuel, water and other important resources has raised issues in many countries. Today, the usage of alternative energy sources has become important than never before.

A hundred long years ago, oil was an inexpensive resource that many people used without any hassle. Today this is a natural resource that is highly depleting. Countries that supply the resource charge high prices making it difficult for most governments to cope up with the hikes.

Shortages in oil and other natural resources is not something that was identified recently. It was actually first experienced in the 1970’s by the Americans who had to wait in long queues to fill up their vehicles with fuel. The supply of gas was not enough to provide to all the households in America. The great United States was faced with a big problem. This resulted in the search for alternative energy sources.

Up to date, many experts have made several advancements in their search for alternative energy sources, but the fact remains that the prices of resources we use today are higher than never before.

When talking about alternative energy sources, the wind, water and sun are some of the main three resources that are put into this use. If the technology is used properly with these resources, a more cost effective mode could be made. Instead of oil being used, people could replace it with such alternative energy sources and use it to turn their turbines for the generation process. Geothermal power and hydropower are also some of the alternative energy sources that are used today.

There may be several alternative energy sources that can be put to use, but not everyone can experience the same thing from different geographical locations. Simply stated, a person living in an area with fewer winds would not be able to experience the electricity generated by using the wind.

The same goes for individuals living in areas with less exposure to the sun. Solar power cannot be used in such locations. This proves that not every geographic location can be utilized for the generation of electricity.

I was first introduced to solar energy in the movie, Race the Sun with James Belushi and Halley Berry in the lead. It was a story about low- income and under achieving Hawaiian students encouraged by their teacher to join the Solar Car race. In the movie, a car shaped like a cockroach and covered with solar panels used the sun’s rays as an alternative energy source to run the car.

Solar energy is the light and the heat from the sun. Solar energy is free and its supplies are unlimited. There are n air and water pollution caused about by using solar energy. But there is still some impacts on the environment although indirect.

Photovoltaic cells used to convert sunlight into electricity uses silicon and also produce some waste materials. There are also large solar thermal farms and these farms can also be harmful to the environment and desert ecosystems if not properly managed.

Solar energy can be used on different aspects. Solar energy can be used in agriculture. Greenhouses (which is entirely different from greenhouse gas) convert solar light to heat to be maximized in enhancing the growth of plants and crops. Greenhouses has been around since the Roman times and modern greenhouses were built in Europe in 16th century. Greenhouses are still an important part of horticulture nowadays,

Daylight systems are also being used to maximize the energy released by the sun. It is used to provide interior illumination replacing the artificial lighting. Daylight systems include sawtooth roofs, light shelf, skylights, and light tube. Daylight systems when they are properly implemented can reduce lighting-related energy consumption by 25 percent.

Solar energy can also be developed into solar thermal technologies which can be used for water heating, space heating, space cooling and process heat generation. Solar energy can also be used to distil water and make saline or brackish water potable or drinkable.

The solar water disinfection or SODIS involves exposing water-filled plastic polyethylene terephthalate or PET bottles. This process takes a long time, since the exposure time varies on the weather conditions. It requires a minimum of six hours to two days during days with overcast conditions. Currently, there are two million people in developing centuries use SODIS for their daily drinking water needs.

Also sunlight can be converted into electricity using photovoltaics or PV. PV has been mainly used to power small and medium-sized things like a calculator powered by a single solar cell. There are homes powered by photovoltaics. Using solar energy for water and space heating is the most widely use application of solar energy. While ventilation and solar air heating is also growing in popularity.

There are three main ways in using solar energy. The main way of using and converting solar energy is by using the solar cells. Solar cells convert light directly into electricity. Solar cells are also called photovoltaic or photoelectric cells.

Meanwhile, solar furnaces use a huge array of mirrors to concentrate on the Sun’s energy into a small space and produced very high temperatures. Solar furnaces are also called “solar cookers”. A solar cooker can be used in hot countries to cook food.

With all the benefits if using solar energy, there is still a downside for this alternative energy source. It does not work during night time. The cost of setting up solar stations is expensive, but the benefit of using solar energy when accumulated is so much more.

There is no better description of a solar power hybrid car than that given by former CIA Director James Woolsey when he said: "A plug-in hybrid is an electric car with an insurance policy - a gas engine." Relying primarily on solar powered electricity, the hybrid has a back-up. To supplement and ensure vehicle operation, the hybrids have a gas engine that kicks in when the battery is depleted, or under certain other pre-specified conditions.

There is no better description of a solar power hybrid car than that given by former CIA Director James Woolsey when he said: “A plug-in hybrid is an electric car with an insurance policy – a gas engine.” Relying primarily on solar powered electricity, the hybrid has a back-up. To supplement and ensure vehicle operation, the hybrids have a gas engine that kicks in when the battery is depleted, or under certain other pre-specified conditions.

You’ll primarily find two different types of hybrid cars on the market today. One is a plug-in hybrid, or PHEV, and the other is simply a hybrid. The only difference between the two is the battery that’s used. The battery capacity of the PHEV, which is recharged by plugging into an electrical outlet, is about 10 times that of the battery used in the standard hybrid. The standard hybrid vehicle battery is smaller and recharges in runs in conjunction with an electrical motor and operation of the gas engine in the vehicle. The PHEV or plug-in hybrid can be charged by a connection to any electrical outlet…solar-powered or connected to a standard grid.

There are an increasing number of advances in batteries that are making full solar powered cars with zero emissions, more and more viable for individual, family and commercial endeavors. People with solar vehicles are increasingly seeing the value of adding solar panels to their roofs to provide the power to charge their cars…and then adding more panels to power their homes. Hybrids, however, with a combination electric and gas engine, are currently the best answer for vehicles that will need to go for long distances without recharging.

When we think about how much it actually costs us to drive our vehicles every day, what we don’t take into account, or add to the tally, is the cost of the environmental damage done by fossil fuels. If we had a component that we had to add into our calculation that factored in that expense, the only thing you’d see any of us driving would be solar powered vehicles or solar powered hybrids.

Absent entrenched economic interests and politics, solar power would be in a far different place today than it is.

The best option at the moment for longer distance driving is either the PHEV or hybrid vehicle. Like having two vehicles in one, you have the electric car that runs clean and efficiently, without pollution, and the gas engine, which while it does produce greenhouse gases when operating, also provides a back-up and additional power to make sure you get where you’re going.

The Kelley Book, a widely used reference for establishing vehicle value lists the following hybrid models as available in the United States for 2010 and 2011:

-	Toyota Prius
-	Honda Insight
-	Toyota Camry
-	Ford Fusion
-	Honda Civic
-	Toyota Highlander
-	Ford Escape
-	Lexus, various hybrid models: RX & GS 450h, HS 250h, LS 600h
-	Nissan Altima
-	Mercedes-Benz S-Class & ML-Class
-	Cadillac Escalade
-	Chevrolet Tahoe
-	Mercury Mariner & Milan
-	BMW X6
-	Chevrolet Malibu
-	GMC Yukon
-	Saturn VUE and Aura
-	Chevrolet Silverado (pick-up) 1500
-	GMC Sierra (pick-up) 1500 Crew Cab

Here are the Kelley Book “top green cars for 2010″, in reverse order:

*	2010 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid
*	2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
*	2010 Ford Escape Hybrid
*	2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid
*	2010 Honda Insight (hybrid)
*	2010 Toyota Prius (hybrid)

Change comes slowly for all of us. With political pressure by industry lobbyists slowing progress in this arena, it’s going to be up to us to not only embrace the move to solar energy, particularly for our vehicles, but to pressure our political representatives to provide the right kinds of incentives that will quickly bring solar energy to parity… and then allow it to quickly eclipse and collapse our dependence…on fossil fuels.

An important step can be made with the purchase of a hybrid or solar powered vehicle. Particularly with the dual option of plugging into the grid…that utility company electrical outlet…or plugging in off the grid…the electricity generated by your own solar panels, you’re making a highly responsible, cost effective way of reducing our carbon footprint.

You might be able to have totally free electrical energy from a renewable source of power like that of sunlight and wind. Wind power is one of the most commonly utilized in this matter.

Wind turbines are utilized for residential wind power. Wind turbines enable extraction of power from the wind that is then converted into usable electrical energy. In building a residential wind electrical power nevertheless, you ought to make sure that your wind turbines should be placed into places exactly where there is positive constant high wind speeds.

What is household wind power? Household wind power enables a home to have its personal source of energy without paying anything to an electric business near their region. Non commercial wind power makes it possible for you to appreciate the comfort of your electrical appliances whilst saving money on the electrical bill every month. * How does it work?

Residential wind power functions through the use of wind energy that will be converted to electrical power. Your wind turbine ought to be positioned in a non obstructed spot where there is certainly huge amount of wind power.

How will I get household wind power? You may have a residential wind power installed inside your location by contacting manufacturers of wind turbines. This might be costly, however. You could also desire to consider building a wind turbine yourself – it’s much easier than you think. Wind turbines are actually extremely basic machines. A great manual to show you the best way to develop one is probably the most important thing you’ll require.

Solar power is all around us, and is energy that comes directly from the sun. It’s everywhere and everything. We depend on the sun for many things. This kind of energy is the best kind of energy that there is! It’s far safer and better for the environment than the traditional forms of energy that we use.

Today in society, we use this form of energy for many things. We use it to heat water, dry clothes and produce electricity to power everything from computers to lights. This type of energy can be harnessed for many more uses. Solar powered calculators have been popular for years. Fans can run on solar power, and pools are heated with simple covers that collect the sun’s heat. Did you know that you can also cook with it! Many people are starting to take notice of how many things we can use solar energy for and save electricity as well as other things. Because of this, this type of energy is becoming more and more popular.

There are many interesting facts about this increasingly popular form of energy. It is measured in kilowatts. About thirty percent of the energy we use to heat our water comes from the sun. The technology used to collect and store solar energy has been around for years. Did you know that Da Vinci predicted most of this solar stuff that we have going on today? He predicted most of this way back in 1447!

Some people are “<noindex>going green</noindex>” and eliminating a lot of things from their home. Electricity is one of them. Going green doesn’t mean that you have to live without electricity. It just means getting your power from solar panels at your home. Saving money and helping the environment are convincing people to make the switch. You can buy a solar energy system for your home, or put one together yourself. You’ll need solar panels, a battery, an inverter, wiring and structure support.

Solar power is awesome. Did you know that more sunlight reaches the earth in one hour than the whole population of the world is capable of using in an entire year! Solar energy is more powerful than we realize. It’s strong enough to impact weather patterns and ocean currents.

If the sun is blocked, its rays will not be able to reach the earth. Wind and clouds can also stop and block the sun’s rays. Pollution also has the same effect. We could do so much with this energy, we could cut down on so many things and use the energy that we receive from the sun.

Americans account for only five percent of the world’s population, but we use about twenty six percent of its energy. It would be easy to take care of the environment. All we have to do is change our habits a little. This energy is one way to help save resources. Use what you have instead of creating something new.

Energy from the sun is all natural and is used to power so many things that we operate in our society today. The environment has taken care of people for many years and will continue to take care of them for many more to come. By using the energy that is there, abundant and free, instead of destroying trees and reducing oxygen levels for ourselves and animals, each of us can have a positive impact on the environment.

If you are interested in doing your part, check out <noindex>discount solar panels</noindex> and <noindex>solar panels</noindex> online. You’ll find that this technology of the future is attainable today.

If you are the type of “environmentally conscious” person who wants to save yourself a ton of cash while also doing your bit to “save the planet” then you should do the earth and yourself a huge favor and <noindex>buy Earth4Energy</noindex>. Why? Because it’ll give you with all of the necessary info to build windmills or solar panels for yourself.

<noindex>Earth 4 Energy</noindex> provides detailed step by step instructions on building windmills and solar panels. Whether you decide to build windmills or solar panels is up to you, but depending on where you live one or the other of these choices may make more logical sense.

Obviously if you live in a really bright city such as Las Vegas, Nevada then you will likely need to go the solar route. But if you live somewhere where there is not a lot of sun then you will probably want to go the windmill way.

No matter which method you use, you should be able to construct your green electricity generator for about $200 which is an incredible deal when you think about how much money you will save on your electricity bill on a monthly basis. In fact, if you can generate extra electricity you can sell the extra stuff back to the power company and make a profit!

It’s understandable if this whole thing sounds “too good to be true” but the cool thing is this guide is completely satisfaction guaranteed with a two month cash back period for refunds which means if you want to try it out and you are not happy with the guide, you can very easily get all your investment back.

You really have nothing to lose by trying it out. But you have plenty to gain. You will be doing your part to stop global warming (you’ll be “greener” than Al Gore!) and you’ll also be saving a ton of money.
